Fairly clean and appealing place, has lovely views to the hills and fields on the horizon. The breakfast is comprehensive with lots of dishes. It offers courteous services. The location is brilliant and handy, 2 km from Tawstock Castle.

Excellent staff, facilities, cleanliness and location.
Confusing road signs saying that road is only for the use of buses and taxis which meant I drove around in circles totally confused.

The service and time of breakfast was very good, though I have had more choice at 2 star hotels this year.
This was a treat I had promised myself since a childhood of riding past it on my way to school. It is not a treat I will repeat, nor will I recommend it to anyone. I would not have been happy with my annexe room at half the price I paid. The facilities were poor and at 10.45 I was asked if I would like another drink as the barmaid had cashed up. The entrance from the carpark was a side entrance. Join the late 20th century if you intend to stay open !

The imperial hotel was such a cozy place, right by the river. Breakfast was really tasty, but sometimes it felt a bit slow. The staff were all super on it. The room we had was nice n comfy with a great view. We had a fab time and would for sure come back!

The staff at The Imperial Hotel were faultless. They were friendly, unassuming and very helpful. From the time we entered the hotel reception until the time we left we felt totally at ease.
We couldn't find fault in the hotel.

I am not a typical visitor to your hotel because I was staying with you in order to take my 90 yr old mother to visit her sister who is terminally ill and staying at the North Devon Hospice. I was looking for a 'slightly old-fashioned' and comfortable hotel where she would feel looked-after.The Imperial Hotel fulfilled all of my requirements and my mother appreciated the care with which she was treated - your staff were unobtrusive but always there if she needed anything. She didn't want to eat in the restaurant and found the staff in the Colours bar very helpful - she would like to thank, especially, the lady who works there who was most attentive. Please pass this onto her.
My only complaint would be that you do not have an a la carte menu for the restaurant. We would like to have eaten there one night but my mother only has a small appetite and didn't want to order a two courde meal in case she couldn't manage most of the second course - she hates wasting food - but thought that the restaurant charges were quite reasonable.

Excellent hotel. Rooms were large and well furnished. The provision of fruit and chocolates in the room was a nice touch. Hotel is probably morr esuitable for the older generation. Some warning on the website about the need for a jacket and tie in the restaurant would be useful.

great ambiance but minor noise issues
The river view from our room offered fine scenery. The breakfast menu allowed us to choose from various good options, and the attentive service made every meal special.
Occasional noise from the hallway slightly disturbed our peace.
